My First Year as a College Student

Year one of college in a nut shell...
(before I forget, time goes by, and it is not fresh)

The confusion

the beauty from a distance

a wet walk with friends

the end of a project. Not wanting to forget the group

dancing with others

showing the world how I roll

Ggg-Guilford

what started out as the math trio and ended up as tight friends

my last full day at Guilford. Exploring the woods, being goofy, and photographing.

finals time

Sally the squirrel

I quite enjoyed the air boat ride in Louisiana over spring break

The after math of the holi festival

some rules are made to be broken

Day 3 in England

I mistakenly thought milk trucks were a thing from the past till this morning

Grandad Billy and I had a good visit in the kitchen while having ice cream (from cows at a dairy just up the street from where he grew up), making porridge, microwaving fish, battling a role of cling wrap, and making England style chips

I thought the different telephone set up was interesting and wanted to capture it.
The differences in the world fascinate me, much more than the similarities

The view out the sky light in the room where I am staying tonight :)

The What, Where, When, Why, and How

A story I want to share but am not always sure how to is what, where, when, why, and how I am in England for all but about 10 days of summer 2013. Well...
What, where, and when -- My summer in England. May 27 - August 15.
Why -- Family -- all of my family on my Mum's side live in England and it had been 3+ years since I had seen them last. I wanted to show them how I had changed, I wanted to see who they were today. Family was my main and most consistent draw.
Why -- Service 'work' -- For a scholarship program I am in I needed to choose an organization to do 280+ hrs of service (at a non-profit) over the summer. After doing my research, exchanging emails, and swimming thought pools of logistics I decided and ironed out all details. I am going to be living with the Embercombe community. Here is a link to their web site: http://www.embercombe.co.uk/
How -- through the same scholarship program I am given a summer stipend to support my service work (whether that goes towards rent, food, or transportation I choose. I chose the later).
And there -- like a sneeze -- you have the what, where, when, why, and how of my summer.

Exploring London

If you walk down this entrance way looking up - all you see are spontaneously painted keys

Perched with my back against a brick wall and my bum on the railing of a bridge I eat
to my left is a wild array of dandelions and
to my left a colourful array of trash stuck between the foot bridge and wall.

This was the cap to the end of a day of adventuring.
(Alone in a house full of trust, with the confidence and love of a bird).

The first

There is a first for everything that happens...

About 10 minutes ago I realized I want a blog. I have always dreamed of writing a book about my life both for me and for my Grand kids but it was not until a story I heard tonight that a blog really felt right.

I want to put a few things out in the open:
Even though I want to be open about things and share my thoughts and be trustworthy know that these posts do not accurately describe the depth of my heart or thoughts.
I am not creating posts to brag about what I have done - but to prove to myself that if you work hard (and ask lots of questions) one can accomplish great things as well as to acknowledge the abundance of aspects to my life (people, resources, options) I have at my finger tips.

I hope in the words, images, and thoughts of this blog that you find hope, inspiration, and truth.

Enjoy and love ~
